songwriting retreats across Cornwall, Devon & Somerset.

Whether you’ve been writing for years or you’re working up to your first open mic, you’ll be welcome here. There’s so much to get out of the experience, from new skills and tools for writing, new motivation towards your musical journey, and all the new people you’ll connect with.
We know that it’s tough times right now in the job market, especially for those of us in the rural South West. That’s why we work hard to keep our retreats affordable, with some events supported by funding that allows us to offer places for free or at a reduced cost. From time to time events might have an age bracket preference, or a location requirement, so check the retreat info to make sure you’re eligible.

What You Get From a Collaborative Songwriting Retreat
COLLABORATION
Develop your collaborative songwriting skills in a supportive and comfortable environment. Whether you’re new to co-writing or already have experience, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to create with others.
confidence
Build your self-belief by co-writing, collaborating and connecting with others. Leave the retreat feeling more confident in your creative voice and better equipped to navigate male-dominated music spaces.
Build meaningful connections and friendships with other participants. Grow a supportive network where you can share opportunities, experiences and inspiration, helping you stay motivated and connected as a developing songwriter.
commuNITY
A few days can make a surprising difference

You don’t need to arrive with a finished song. You don’t even need to arrive with a good idea. You just need to fancy making something together.

HI, I'M ANNA
This all began when the pandemic lockdowns happened during my songwriting degree and we lost the aspects of in-person collaboration that we had been so looking forward to exploring!
Fast forward 6 years and chorus has become community of inspirational alumni, from touring artists to music-loving hobbyists - all connected through that shared love of creative expression through songs.
I love hearing about past participants who have supported each others gigs, joined each others projects, or bumped into each other unexpectedly and giddily reminisced.

With such a long history of marginalising women and gender-diverse musicians, it’s no wonder that stepping into a co-writing room or collaborative project can feel daunting.
Chorus Songwriting exists as an inclusive and supportive space where you can try things out, make mistakes, learn from each other and ultimately build the skills to feel confident to express your ideas and know your worth in collaborative projects, or when looking to the next stage in your music journey.
Always wanted to play that open mic? Play to a small group of supportive women at one of our retreats first!
Looking to start a band? Try arranging songs with us in a relaxed environment without the pressure of a gig!
Never written a song with someone else before? Explore new tools and songwriting games to generate ideas in our retreat workshops.
The music industry hasn't always made space for us.

The wonderful group of people absolutely made it for me. Anna’s wonderful organising and presence and making new friends was a highlight.
Molly, Summer 2025
